Hearing impairment is a hidden disability, it is a language disability. The child’s language and speech development is affected because of hearing loss. To surmount the hearing loss, speech & language disorder, besides books, field – visits, guided activity and role play are organized.
Late Shrimati Mainatai Ramchandra Gokhale started educating children with hearing impairment at her residence. Children with hearing impairment should not be deprived of quality education was the sole mission that she started working with. During that time, though there was no advent in technology, she accepted the challenge whole heartedly and started teaching one deaf girl.
Her dedication towards educating these students, and her hard work laid the foundation of Vijay Shikshan Sanstha in 1960.
Vijay Shikshan Sanstha was established on the auspicious day of Vijayadashmi and Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 1960. The institution is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, bearing registration No. E-2071, Mumbai and following government policies for the disabled. The faith and confidence reposed in us and support and blessings have helped us to face all the challenges and more.
Sadhana Vidyalaya was the first school which started in 1964 at Dadar East, and in 1983, Pragati Vidyalaya was founded at Dadar West, Both the schools impart education in Marathi and Hindi Medium upto 7th std and schools prepare them for 10th std.
